City Journal, Tuesday, Joseph A. Wikstrom BRONSON, Iowa Joseph August Wikstrom, 96, of Nampa, Idaho, formerly of Bronson, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 29, 2007, in Nampa. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa. Private graveside services will be prior to the service Friday in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.

Idaho. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Joe was born Sept.

25, 1910, in Bronson, to Bessy and Axel Wikstrom. He attended school and was raised on the family farm near Bronson. He moved to California where he met and married Zola Vernita Vail. Two children were born to that union, Garold Leroy and Charles Arthur. They moved several times to Iowa, Washington and then back to lowa, where they farmed for 30 years, until retirement brought them to Idaho to be near family.

Zola died in 1976. He married Blanche B. Cleveland in 1977. She preceded him in death in 2006. He gained two stepchildren at that time, Donald and Douglas Cleveland.

He will be dearly missed by his entire family and all who knew him. He never met a stranger. There was always a smile and a pat on the back for everyone. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene and attended College Church of the Nazarene, where he was a member of the Grace Notes Choir until ill health took him to Park Place Assisted Living and finally Ashley Manor. He is survived by his children, Garold Leroy (Sue) Wikstrom.

Charles Arthur (Charlene) Wikstrom. Douglas (Annie) Cleveland and Ruth Cleveland: grandchildren, Laurie (Mark) Zimmerman, Greg (Sara) Wikstrom, Joseph (Mary Anne) Wikstrom, Wendy (Kevin) Asher, Bradley (Kirsten) Cleveland, Kim (John) Hazlewood, Bill (Debbie) Cleveland, Sherrie (Louis) Cuttlers, Sherry Lewis and Donna Ruth McDaniel; a brother, Paul Wikstrom; a sister, Fern (Ed) Dunn: sisters-inlaw, Rita Wikstrom, Jackie Wikstrom and Mabel LaCelle; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Cleveland; brothers and sisters, Lenord (Vera) Wikstrom, Alfred Wikstrom, Glen Wikstrom, Velma (Lyle) Welty and Charlotte (Ben) Johnson; and a brotherin-law, Jerry LaCelle. The family would like to July 31, 2007 give a special thank you to the staff of Park Place Assisted Living and Ashley Manor for their kind and loving care given to Dad. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to Park Place Assisted Living, 616 16th Ave.

Arrangements are pending with Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Lavonne Porth SANBORN, Iowa Lavonne Porth, 85, of Sanborn died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Northwest Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, Miss.

Memorial services will I be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Sanborn. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Roseland Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m.

Wednesday at Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn. Carla Erwin LAUREL, Neb. Carla Erwin, 56, of Laurel died Monday, July 30, 2007, Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Neb. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Laurel.

Burial will be in Laurel Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Hasemann-Schumacher Funeral Home in Laurel. Robert Wetherell PETERSON, Iowa Robert "Rob" Wetherell, 79, of Peterson died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church in Peterson. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Dean Underwood Post 10. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday First Baptist Church in Vermillion. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of IversonSiecke Funeral Home in Vermillion. OBITUARIES John J.

Carr ANTHON, Iowa John James Carr, known as "Jim" to his family, "J.J." to his friends and "Mountain Man" to his grandchildren and air traffic control brothers, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2007, at his residence in Anthon. There will be no services. There will be a private family cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Born Oct.

4, 1938, Jim was the first of seven children born to Cy and Dorothy Carr. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Anthon and Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1956 and served honorably for 21 years attaining the rank of master sergeant.

During his years of service he was stationed in California, Okinawa, North Carolina, Vietnam, Missouri, Iowa and Arizona. Upon retiring from the military, he went to work in civil service as an air traffic controller in Yuma, where he resided for more than 30 years. He was married to Nyla Erickson of Sioux City in 1958 until her death in 1982. He then married Anne Harrington of Yuma in 1985. While in Yuma, he was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks and A American Legion.

He also was a Grand Pu-Bah of the Gila River Chapter of the Arizona Mountain Men Society. He will be remembered as the greatest storyteller of all time, for his quick wit and humor, his service to his country, his love of fishing and his love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Anne; six children and their spouses, Jeff of Missouri, Jim and Angela of Yuma, Craig of Ocheyedan, Iowa, Brad and Lynda Carr of Sioux City, Kelly and Jess Cook of Twentynine Palms, and Destry Carr of Yuma; two stepchildren, Les (Audra) Evans of Yuma and DeDe (Norm) Miller-Friend of Indiana; 15 grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses, Jerry and Petie, Jack, Joe and Mary, Jay and Beth Carr, Judy and Bill Lourens and Jenny (Paul) Hensel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cy and Dorothy Carr; his first wife, Nyla Erickson Carr; and a granddaughter, Amanda Cook. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Siouxland, Sioux City.

Mabel Rutledge SPENCER, Iowa Mabel Rutledge, 84, of Spencer died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Spencer Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Terril, Iowa. Visitation will be after 1 p.m.

Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer. David W. Casjens ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa David W. Casjens, 67, of Rock Rapids died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m.

Thursday at Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, with the Rev. Dean Shelley officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

A complete obituary and online registry is available at www.rostefuneralhome.com. David William Casjens was born Nov. 15, 1939, in Hull, Iowa, the son of Floyd M. and Veda (Hindt) Casjens. He was raised in Rock Rapids and attended school in Rock Rapids.

He attended the University of Iowa and graduated June 9, 1961, with a B.B.A. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, where he flew a KC135 jet tanker. He was united in marriage to Charlene Roark on Feb. 3, 1964, in Enid, Okla.

He attended the University of Iowa College of Law and graduated with a law degree on June 5, 1970. That same year in September, the couple moved to Rock Rapids. He also served as a JAG officer, IA ANG, Sioux City, and Lyon County Judicial Magistrate for eight years. He served in Ready Reserve, USAF and was a retired major, USAF. On March 29, 2000, he retired from the practice of law. In 2006, he' was diagnosed with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Casjens of Rock Rapids; and a brother, Floyd Casjens of Rock Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd M. and Veda; and a sister-in-law, Betty.
