Survivors include his wife; a sister, Marie Hoss of Rockford, 111., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. "Woody" Cook. Josephine Francis Josephine Francis, 91, Sunrise Manor, Sioux City, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1993, at the Manor, due to congestive heart failure. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Christy -v Sirff of the Morn-1 JSgside Lutheran vr jQiurch officiating.

Military graveside ervices will be in JSraceland Park Jmetery, led by rte Veterans of many years. She then entered management position at the Woodbury County Home in 1949, and retired in 1964. She had been a member of the Morningside Presbyterian Church since March 25, 1931. Survivors include nieces Joyce Maxfield Hiser of Eldridge, Iowa, and Dorothy Heitritter Davis of Long Beach, N.C., and nephews Richard Maxfield and Harold Crooks, both of Bothell, and Edwin Heitritter ofGlendale, Calif. She was also preceded in death by three sisters.

Bertha Maxfield, Gertrude Heitritter and Bessie Martin, and a brother, George Crooks. Memorial donations may be directed to the Morningside Presbyterian Church. Alene C. Jacobsma Alene C. Jacobsma, 2612 S.

Magnolia died Friday, Oct. 8, 1993, at her home after a short illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steve Dorn-busch officiating.

Burial will be 9 a.m. Monday at the Hospers (Iowa) Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. with family present 7-9 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m.

Kelting Feb. 19, 1932, in Sioux City. Helied Aug. 4, 1984. She lived in Sioux 'City all her life, and worked as a seamstress in the alteration department -at Younkers Department Store until tfef retirement.

She was a member Redeemer Lutheran Church, the' Uil theran Women's Missionary the Mary-Martha Circle, knitting club, and the Laurel Society. Survivors include a son and his wife, Larry and Judy of Amafillpj Texas; a daughter and her husband; Marlene and Allan Fuhrmari'of Graceville, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren! "Rick" Archer, 4 Indian Hills, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday; Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Marjorie H. Everett, 100, Countryside Retirement Home, died Saturday; Nelson-Berger Motpt ingside Chapel. Stanley L. Knutson, 46, 5950 Morningside Avenue, died Friday; Christy Morningside Funeral ingside Lutheran Church and active in the sewing club and Women's Circle. She was a member of the Sioux City Gospel Mission Auxiliary.

She was a quilter. Survivors include four sons and their wives, Craig and Diana, Reid and Sandy, all of Sioux City, Marc and Susan of Midland, Texas, and Wade and Karen of Lees Summit, seven grandchildren; a brother. Cliff Schaafsma of Midland, and a sister, Anna Beth Magee of Hospers. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers will be Tom and Jack Magee, Harry Nelson, Lloyd Pippett and Robert Roetman.

A memorial has been established in her name for the Sioux City Gospel Mission. Rose M.Johnson Rose Murad Johnson, 77, Sioux City, died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home, with burial in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m.

Monday, with family present 7-9 p.m. and a Trisagion service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. IsabelleV. Kelting Isabelle V. Kelting, 83, Sunrise Manor, died Friday, Oct.

8, 1993, at the nursing home. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Sieveking officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Sioux City; a sister. Bertha Yaro of Sioux City, Iowa; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Walter Bradley, two half brothers, Arthur and Bob Evans, and a half sister. Hazel Skaff.

Edward R. Flaa Edward R. "Ray" Flaa, 81, 4524 Fillmore died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 7, 1993, in Sioux Ci- Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev.

Flaa was born May. 27, 1912, in Sioux City, son of Eyvind "Ed" and Ragna Flaa. He served with the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II, earning a Purple Heart and several other medals. He married Blanche S.

Mayo July 28, 1982, in Sioux City. He lived in Sioux City all his life, working for Armour Company for 38 years, then for O'Neill Grain Company until his retirement in 1 978. He was a member of VFW Post 1973 and the Disabled American Veterans of America, Chapter 54. He Morningside Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arthur K.

He worked for Buick in Sioux City, including Getz JBuick, Salsness Buick and Condon Jguick, for 47 years, retiring as a ser-gce manager in January 1993.

IS He was an avid bowler, a hunter Sacd fisherman, and interested in all Sports events. He served with the j.S.Army in Alaska and the Aleu-ttan Islands. 1 Survivors include his wife Pauline; JCwKSons, Kevin and his wife Kimberly of Carlisle, Iowa, and iterjy Bradley of Sioux City; two laughters, Mrs. Rod (Janelle) Sil-IjSnberg and Dorothy Cowles of the hour before 1974 photo service time at the funeral home. Francis was born April 5, 1902, at Climbing Hill, Iowa, daughter of Henry C. and Lena A. Crooks. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, and married Lawrence Francis here June 4, 1924. He died Nov.

27, 1982, in Sioux City. She was a clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad for 10 years, and farmed with her husband for ft James Brown Colonial Manor; 12 grandchildren, a ncDcccriDn 23 great-grandchildren. Melanie was born March 31, 1976, at Sheldon, Iowa, daughter of Patrick and Ruth (Reuter) Grady. She was raised in the Hospers area and was a senior at Spalding High School at Granville, Iowa. She had been a resident of Alton since moving there with her family in April of 1990. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Youth Leadership Team, and participated in the Spalding High School Chorus.

She was involved in the SEARCH Program and active in athletics. She was on the Spalding yearbook staff and active in the Christian Services Program. Survivors include her parents; a brother, Jeremy, at Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D.; maternal, grandmother, Mrs. Joseph (Marie) Reuter of Sheldon, and paternal grandparents Ray and Agnes Grady of Granville. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Joseph Reuter.

A memorial fund will be established in her name. Rose E. Herzberg LE MARS, Iowa Rose E. Herzberg, 96, of Lc Mars, died Thursday at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center. Services will be 1 p.m.

Monday at the Merrill (Iowa) United Methodist Church, with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be during the hour prior to service time at the church. The Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars is handling arrangements. Richard Hodgson LE MARS, Iowa Richard Hodgson, 68, of rural Le Mars, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1993, at his home.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Le Mars, with the Rev. Lvnn Potter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m.

She moved from Iowa to Wisconsin with her husband and children in the 1950s, Boilermakers Union Local 83, of which he was a member. IS Survivors include his wife; three Sins, Kevin and his wife, Pam JJrown of York, Darron and his jgife, Carrie Brown of Centerville, nd Jason Brown of Beresford; three Hodgson and Terry and Lisa Hodgson, all of Le.Mars,'and seven grandchildren, Scott, Kevin, Billy, Roy, Ryan, Aaron and Sarah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson. Pat Bainbridge Kowal KINGSLEY, Iowa Patricia (Bainbridge) Kowal, 69, of West Point, formerly of Kingsley, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1993, at the hospital in West Point. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Kingsley United Methodist Church, with the Rev.

John Crosswhite officiating. Burial will be in the Kingsley Cemetery. The Earnest-Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley is handling arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mrs.

Kowal was born Oct. 18, 1923, at Kingsley, daughter of George H. and Kate (Miller) Meyer. She graduated from Kingsley High School in 1941 and attended Morningside College. She married Delmar W.

Bainbridge Nov. 22, 1946, at Kingsley. He died in 1973. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota in 1970 and her master's from the University of Iowa in 1976. She taught rural school, then elementary grades in the Kingsley-Pierson Schools for many years.

She married Dr. Frank Kowal in 1981. She was a Methodist. Survivors include her husband Frank; two sons and their wives, Dr. Craig W.

and Sandra Bainbridge of Sioux City and Scott W. and Kerri of Las Vegas; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Clara Luken LE MARS, Iowa Clara Luken, 95, of Lc Mars, formerly of Marcus, died Thursday at The Abbey, Le Mars. Services will be 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Marcus, with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at the Feuerstein Funeral Home, Le Mars. and to their North River Road home- Tdaughters, Rosemary Stich and Kelly stead in 1952. Pottebaum ALTON, Iowa Louis P. Pottebaum, 63, of Yuba City, formerly of Alton, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1993, in an automobile accident near Remsen, Iowa. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St.

Mary's Catholic Church, Alton, with the Rev. Ronald J. Reicks officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Sutter (Calif.) Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m..

today, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen is handling arrangements. Mr. Pottebaum was born May 26, 1930, at Le Mars, Iowa, son of William and Olivia (Minten) Pottebaum.

He grew up in the Alton area, and graduated from St. Mary's Academy at Alton in 1947. He was a farm laborer in the AltonRemsen area until entering the U.S. Air Force in August of 1951. He married Rita Hansen Oct.

2, 1954, at Victorville, Calif. He was stationed in various locations both in the U.S. and abroad, including service in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He retired from the military in September of 1971. He then went to work for the U.S.

Postal Service as a letter carrier at Yuba City. He retired in November of 1990. They had lived at Yuba City since 1973. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Yuba City, where he served as an usher.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Rita; three daughters and their husbands, Gail and Randall Gilmore of Sutter, Cheryl and Walter Flick of San Antonio, Texas, and Barbara and Galen Gilmore of Yuba City; six grandchildren; his stepmother, Mrs. William Brown, both of Sioux City and She was a member of the Jolly Kristin Brown of Colorado; his Circle Birthday Club of Union parents, Alma and Gladys Brown of Township. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Gerald and Margie Hodgson, Rodney and Lynelle grandchildren and many great- great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Walter and Tommy. Melanie M. Grady ALTON, Iowa Melanie Marie Grady, 17, of Alton, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1993, at a Sioux City hospital, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Remsen, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alton, with the Rev. Ronald J. Reicks officiating.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Vistation will be after 2 p.m. Monday, with a Rosary Society rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.
