A 8 The Sioux City Journal, Friday, December 12, 1986 Area obituaries Howard Jay Anderson married Felix Dreckman at Granville. The couple farmed near Granville. He died March 28, 1964 and she moved into town Oct. 18, 1986. Mrs.

Dreckman was an Avon representative in the Granville area for 22 years and worked with the Spalding School Hot Lunch program for 12 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the church Guild and Christian Mothers. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Cathy Dreckman at home; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Doralice) Ney of Granville, and two half sisters, Mrs.

Gilbert (Ida) Brunsman of Alton and Mrs. John (Armella) Stallman of Sheldon. grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Emmett Hirt HARTLEY, Iowa Emmett Hirt, 68, of Eldora, formerly of Hartley, died Monday in a hospital in Des Moines after a long illness. Services will be at 10 a.m.

today in the Baumgarten Funeral Home in Hartley. The Rev. Bernard Sayler will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Mr.

Hirt was born June 6, 1918, at Hartley. He married Lauraine Camp May 29, 1942, at Nemaha. The couple moved to Eldora in 1959 where he worked for the Farm Bureau until his retirement in 1975. Mr. Hirt was a member of United Church of Christ and the Eldora Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patricia Hjelmeland and Jan Crandall, both of Des Moines; a son, Donald of Midland, Texas, and a granddaughter. Paul, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Henry A. Punt SIOUX CENTER, Iowa Henry A. Punt, 81, of Sioux Center died Thursday in a hospital in Sioux Center.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. The Rev. Thurman Rynbrandt will officiate. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from p.m. today in Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Mr. Punt was born Jan. 23, 1905, at Maurice.

He lived his youth near Maurice and attended rural school. He married Wilhelmina VanDeBerg Feb. 13, 1929, in Sioux Center. The couple farmed near Maurice until 1958 when they retired to Sioux Center. Mr.

Punt was a member of First Reformed Church. Survivors include his' wife; four sons, Donald H. and Leroy both of Sioux Center, Lloyd W. of Pipestone, and Henry W. of Minneapolis; two daughters, Mrs.

Lawrence (Audrey) Groen and Mrs. Curtis (Dorothy) Van Briesen, both of Sioux Center; two brothers, Martin A. of Whiting, N.J., and Gerrit A. of Sioux Center; three sisters, Mrs. Jake (Fannie) Kuhl and Mrs.

Lawrence (Johanna) Vande Berg of Sioux Center, and Mrs. John (Ada) Vermeer of Montevideo, 31 grandchildren and 34 Bertha Hannah Schultz MOVILLE, Iowa Bertha P. Hannah Schultz, 79, of Moville died Thursday at her home in Moville after a long illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in McCulloch-Wavrin Funeral Home.

The Rev. Roger Semmler of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Hannah in 1925 in Moville. He died in May 1945. She married Albert Schultz Nov. 18, 1950, in South Sioux City. He died in August 1959.

Mrs. Schultz had lived all her married life in Moville. Survivors include two sons, Jack Hannah of Moville and Jerry Hannah of Sun City, two sisters, Geneva Hill of Moville and Dorothy Banko of Mapleton; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Patricia J. Wiebersch LE MARS, Iowa Patricia J.

Wiebersch, 51, of Iowa City, formerly of Le Mars, died Thursday at her home in Iowa City after a short Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Iowa City. The Rev. Eugene Benda! will officiate.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Calvary Cemetery at Le Mars. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today in Donohue-Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City with the rosary recited by the parish at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Mrs. Wiebersch, the former Patricia J.

Allison, was born March 21, 1935, in Le Mars. She married Fred Wiebersch Sept. 15, 1956, in Le Mars. She was employed at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Mrs.

Wiebersch was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Societies of the church andOpti-Mrs. Survivors include her husband; a son, Mark of Iowa City; two daugh-' ters, Mrs. Robert (Leicha) Schepers of St. Louis, and Mrs.

Kevin (Lori) Drake of Chisholm, Minn. her mother, Marguerite Allison of Le Mars; five sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Arlene) Erdmann, Mrs. Dan (Mary) Buckley and Glenda Meis, all of Le Mars, Mrs. Ron (Avila) McCoy of Omaha and Mrs.

Mark (Rosalie) Tentinger of Waterloo, and one granddaughter. Anderson was born Jan. 30, 1896, rural Alta. He married Keren Marie Scott at Algona. The couple made their home in Marathon where be managed a service station and drove a tank wagon. She died Oct.

17, 1981, in Storm Lake. Mr. Anderson served in the U.S. Army during World War I and was a member of Edward William Hart-man Post 12, American Legion of Marathon. Survivors include two sons, Duane of Spencer and H.

James of Chicago; three brothers, Lloyd and Earl, both of Alta and Vincent of Gig Harbor, a sister, Mabel Hendrickson of California; five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Mrs. Felix Dreckman GRANVILLE, Iowa Mrs. Felix (Kathleen) Dreckman, 61, of Granville died Wednesday at her home in Granville after a long illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. The Rev. Robert Gralapp will officiate. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery under direc-' tion of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

The rosary will be recited by the parish at 5 and 7:30 p.m. today in the church. Mrs. Dreckman, the former Kathleen Kuester, was born Jan. 31, 1925, at Granville.

She was raised in the Granville area where she attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and graduated from Paullina Public High School. On Oct. 10, 1950, she Obituaries "CHICK" Blankenship O.W. "CHICK" Blankenship, 66, 1417 Navaho Circle, died Wednesday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

7, 1920, in Roanoke, and graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke. He then worked for the Norfolk and Western Railroad in Roanoke until entering the U.S. Army Air Force in 1941 and served 4Vi years in England as an aircraft mechanic. He married Mary Virginia Stroup Nov. 3, 1945, in Sioux City.

She died April 1, 1986, in Sioux City. He had worked for a painting contractor for several years and in May of 1955 he founded the "CHICK" Blankenship Painting and Decorating Co. which he owned and operated for 30 years. Upon his retirement in November 1985, the firm has been operated by hisson, Kicnard. Mr.

Blankenship was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and had been a longtime active member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany. He was past president of the Iowa Painting and Decorating Contractors of America and Sioux City Construction League. He served on the Sioux City Joint Trade Board. He was a longtime member of the painters' Local Union 214 and the Sioux City Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Blankenship was a former member of the Sioux City Rotary Club, Epiphany Council 743 Knights of Columbus and the Sioux City Boat Club. He also was involved with the Cub Scouts Pack 136. He was a charter member and Past Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary where he participated in the River-Cade Program and was a Red Cross boating instructor and Coast Guard inspector.

A longtime booster of Heelan High School, he was a member of the Crusader Club and the Heelan Gold Club. Survivors include two sons, William and Richard, both of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Vicki) Levasseur of Sioux City; his father, O.W. Blankenship of Salem, two brothers, Alvin of Potomac, and Eugene of Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. F.E.

(Dorothy) Farrar of Roanoke and Mrs. Mack (Marie) Smith of McLean, and nine Cynthia Dykstra HULL, Iowa Cynthia Dykstra, 89, of Hull died Wednesday in a hospital in Rock Valley. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev.

Gerald Vander Velde will officiate. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 today with the family present rom 7-9 p.m. in Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Mrs.

Dykstra, the former Cynthia Meerdink, was born Oct. 29, 1897, at Hull. She married Jerry Dykstra Feb. 12, 1920, at Hull. They farmed north of Hull until moving into town in 1962.

He died in November 1971. In 1985 she became a resident of Valley Manor in Rock Valley. Mrs. Dykstra was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church and was a member of Martha Circle of the church. Survivors include three sons, Joel of George, and Donald and Leroy, both of Hull; two daughters, Mrs.

Cornie (Elizabeth) DeVos of Hull and Mrs. Clarence (Marlene) Van't Hul of Colorado Springs, a sister, Dena DeWild of Boyden; a brother, Dr. Ben Meerdink of Rock Valley; 19 Vincent K. Forch Vincent K. Forch, 58, 1119 26th died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. John Thomas will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery I. Jf at Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today with the rosary'' -recited at 7:30 p.m.

Jeffrey Jan. 7, 1954, in Anthon. They made their home in Sioux City. He was employed at Sunshine Foods for 28 years and was manager of 10 Sunshine in Morningside for nine years until 1982. He then was employed by Krogh's Coast-to-Coast in South Sioux City from 1983 until 1986 when he retired because of poor health.

Mr. Forch was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Tri-State Stroke Club. Survivors include his wife; two brothers, John of Moville, Iowa, and Jim of Sioux City; four sisters, Mary Jo Dirks of Menomonie, Margaret Roark and Cecelia Karhoff, both of Anthon and Kay Frederichs of Shenandoah, Iowa. Ouellette Mary Amelia Jones Ouellette, 56, Mesa, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday in a hospital in Phoenix, after a short illness. Memorial services were Sunday in Valley of the Sun Memorial Park in Chandler, Ariz. Mrs. Ouellette, the former Mary A. Jones, was born June 25, 1930, in South Sioux City and graduated from South Sioux City High School.

She married Robert Earl Ouellette in November 1948. The couple made their home in Sioux City. She moved to Arizona about 10 years ago. Survivors include four sons, Leonard of Spencer, Iowa, David of South Sioux City, William of Sioux City and James; two daughters, Carol Bennett of Newcastle, and Kathy Perera of Sioux City; a sister, Alyce Newland of Sun Lakes, and 11 grandchildren. Weber, 90, 4236 Hickory Lane, Apt. 110, died Wednesday at his home after a sudden illness. Services will be at 1:30 D.m. Satur day in Morningside Presbyterian Church. The Rev.

Edna H. Morgan, 79, of Battle Creek died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in United Methodist Church in Ida Grove. The Rev.

James Riley will officiate. Christensen Funeral Home of Ida Grove is in charge. Mrs. Morgan, the former Edna Henrietta Rollwagen, was born July 26, 1907, in Thedford, Neb. She graduated from nurses training at Methodist Hospital in Omaha and was employed as a registered nurse in Sioux City, Cherokee, Battle Creek and Ida Grove.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Juanita) Johnson of Schaller and Mrs. Alden (Beverly) Backhaus of Ida Grove; a son, Douglas of Garden City, a sister, Miss Helen Rollwagen of St. from 5-9 p.m. today in the Christy Morningside Funeral Home.

Mr. Weber was born March 31, 1896, in Hornick, Iowa, and was raised in the Hornick area. He married Mabel Persinger Feb. 12, 1919, in Hornick. He farmed near Hornick and Holly Springs, Iowa, for 19 years and near Smithland, Iowa, for another 11 years.

They moved to Sioux City in 1949 and continued farming until retiring in 1962. Mr. Weber was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Victor of Quimby, Iowa, Clifton of Cushing, Iowa, and Melvin of Rapid City, S.D.; two brothers, Clarence of Sioux City and Oliver of Holly Springs; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Hanner of Hornick, Mrs.

Amanda Steinhoff of Sioux City, Mrs. Rosena Bouman of Whiting, Iowa, and Mrs. Lorena Weimer of Lemon Grove, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Harold A.

Weir Mrs. Harold A. Weir, 85, Indian Hills Care Center, died Wednesday at the nursing home after a long illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

The Rev. E.D. Pappadackis of Third Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m.

Ask for details. EE Iowa woman dies in traffic accident CARROLL, Iowa (AP) A school bus and car collided on a Carroll County gravel road Thursday afternoon, killing the driver of the car. The victim was identified as Margaret Faber of Lidderdale, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Carroll County sheriff's office said a car driven by Faber collided with a Carroll Community School District bus driven by Burt Klocke about five miles northeast of Carroll. Klocke had just finished his route when the accident occurred around 4 p.m.

and there were no students on the bus. Klocke and Faber's husband, Carl, were injured and being treated at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll. Prairie Home show loses producer ST. PAUL, Minn.

(AP) The newly hired producer of Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" radio show has left the program and returned to Los Angeles, a spokesman for Minnesota Public Radio said. "Steve Schlow is no longer the producer of 'A Prairie Home said Chris Langer, MPR director of communications. Schlow was hired after an extensive search which drew applicants from across the country, Langer said. He moved to Minnesota in October to take the job, but left Nov. 15 after only six shows.
