Deanna Mahr Deanna Mahr, 57, of Fort Bragg, formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, Cheryl L. Olson SOUTH SIOUX CITY Cheryl L. Olson, 50, of South Sioux City died Friday, May 6, 2005, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Ring officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Walthill. Neb.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Cheryl was born May 10, 1954, in Syracuse, the daughter of Lloyd D. and Mary (Webb) Olson. She was a longtime resident of Sioux City and South Sioux City area and enjoyed all aspects of life.

She was always close to her many friends and family members. Survivors include two sons, Jason and Kevin Lafferty of Phoenix, a daughter, Heather Lafferty of Sioux City: her mother, Mary Badberg of Phoenix; a sister, Deb Simpson of Talmage, and grandparents, Delman and Evelyn Olson of Waverly, and Frances and Robert Dickison of South Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd; her stepfather, Garold Badberg; and her grandfather, Albert J. Webb. Pallbearers will be Josh, Mike and Jeff Webb.

Tim Stidd, Kevin and Jason Lafferty. Honorary pallbearer will be David Snyder. Contributions can be made to the family in lieu of flowers. Laurence Bonowski Laurence Bonowski, 70, of Henderson, formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, May 1, at a Henderson hospital. Services were held May 7 at St.

Peter's Catholic Church in Henderson. Burial will be in Los Angeles, Calif. Bonowski was born July 18, 1934, in Sioux City. He resided in Henderson for 12 years. He was a retired manager in the aerospace industry and a U.S.

Marine Corps veteran. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; two stepsons, Darryl Larrimore and Edward Williams, both of Henderson, a sister, Margo Caplinger of Old Hickory, two brothers, Karl Bonowski Jr. and Ronald Anderson, both of Sioux City; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Evelyn Riemenschneider Evelyn Riemenschneider, 86, of Sioux City died Saturday, 'May 7, 2005, at a Sioux City care center. Services will be 10 a.m.

Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Entombment will tebe in Logan Park Mausoleum. Evelyn was born July 21, 1908, in Kingsley, Iowa, to Henry and Anna (Gehrig) Riemenschneider.

She attended school in Kingsley and graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1925. She enrolled in nurse's training at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital in Sioux City and graduated in 1928. She was employed at the offices of Drs. Gitten and Dvorak in Sioux City for 10 years, then moved to Chicago for a year to become a certified in anesthesiology.

She returned to Sioux City and worked for many years as an anesthetist at St. Luke's and Methodist Hospitals and St. Joseph's and St. Vincent's hospitals. She was a member of the Anesthesia Society of Iowa and the Chicago Anesthesia Society.

She enjoyed gardening and playing cards with friends at the Morningside Library. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lorena and Ruby. Helen R. Davis Helen Rose Davis, 94, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at her residence. Services will be 10 a.m.

Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Norman C. Underwood Norman C. Underwood, 70, of Sioux City died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev.

Doug West of Grace Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Underwood was born May 12, 1934, in Winnebago, the son of Clifford and Minnie (Berg) Underwood.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1955. He had resided in Dundee, for several years prior to returning to Sioux City in 1979. He was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles.

He loved his dogs. Survivors include a son and his wife, Tony and Misty wood of Omaha; a daughter, Danielle Lammers of Omaha; a special friend, Lynette Carlson of Sioux City; two brothers, Winfred Underwood and his wife, Norma of Sioux City and Darrell Underwood of Cherokee, Iowa; three sisters, Viola and her husband, Bert Carver, Florence Riffey and Gloria "Jean" Barclay, all of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clifford; and a brother, Melvin. Joy A. VanBeek Joy A.

VanBeek, 50, of Sioux City died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a two year courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Larkin Northside Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donna Smith of Cornerstone World Outreach Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery, Sioux Center, Iowa.

Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Joy was born July 9, 1954, in Okmulgee, the daughter of George and Dollie (Frair) Jacobes Sr. She spent her early years in Oklahoma and then she moved with her family to Lathrup, Calif. She graduated from East Union High School in 1972.

She was a hairdresser in California before moving to Sioux City in 1999. In Sioux City, she worked for Cost Cutters, Scissors Palace and was in a partnership with Absolute Hair. She retired due to her illness. On Nov. 29, 1992, she married John VanBeek in California.

She enjoyed gardening and playing Keno and the slots. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, John VanBeek of Sioux City; two daughters, Deidre and her husband, Andrew Jacobsen of Lodi, and Christine Mullins and Albert Delossantos of Stockton, a son and his wife, Jeromy and Erin of Omaha; eight grandchildren, Lacey, Alyssa, Joshua, Andrew, Jennifer, Krystal, A.J. and Destiny Rose; a great-grandson, Rueben; a sister and her husband, Nina and Edwin Liel of Lathrup, her mother-inlaw, Gertrude VanBeek of Sioux Center, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Jacobes Jr.

and Billy Jacobes; and her father-in-law, Henry A. VanBeek. Pallbearers will be John VanBeek, David VanBeek, Justin VanBeek, Ed Liel, David Cole and Roger VanBeek. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Helen L. Hunt GRANVILLE, Iowa Helen L. Hunt, 91, of Granville died suddenly Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Orange City Municipal Hospital in Orange City, Iowa. Services will be 10:30 a.m.

today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, with Monsignor Kenneth Seifried officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Granville. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Helen L. Hunt was born Sept. 28, 1913, in Alton, Iowa, the daughter of George P. and Anna Elizabeth (Krebs) Thorman. When a young child, she moved with her family to near Granville, where she was raised and received her education at St.

Joseph Catholic School. On Nov. 26, 1931, she married Anthony "Tony" Hunt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. They made their home near Granville, where they were engaged in farming.

They retired and moved into Granville in 1966. Tony died May 4, 1973. Helen was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the church Guild, charter member and 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America, member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers since Aug. 15, 1936, 50-year member of the Ladies Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 5347 of Granville and Granville Senior Citizens since 1974.

She served as a volunteer library aide at St. Joseph School in Granville for 16 years. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss her Sunday morning breakfast gatherings and the cookies and candy jars filled with goodies. Survivors include four sons and their wives, Freddie and Skip of Peterson, Iowa, George and Sue of Gaithersburg, Dan and Faye of Granville and Sam and Karen of Marengo, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Mark Roethler of Marcus, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David in infancy; three sisters, Catherine Thorman in infancy, Margaret De Vries and Clara Ahlers; and a brother, Max Thorman.

Pallbearers will be Darrell, Joe. Jim Steve, Chris, David, Ken and Jesse Hunt, Tim and Tony Roethler. Tony Haugen MOVILLE, Iowa Anton C. "Tony" Haugen, 92, of Moville died Monday, May 9, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital. Martinsburg died Sunday, May 8, 2005, in Salem, Wis.

Arrangements are pending with Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Neb. Raymond H. Ernst IDA GROVE, Iowa Raymond H. Ernst, 81, of Ida Grove died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. Services will be 10:30 a.m.

Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, with the Revs. John Schauer and Gary Scharrer officiating. Burial will be in Ida Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m.

Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove. Born Dec. 18, 1923, in Ida Grove, Raymond Harvey Ernst was the son of Albert and Marie (Schwenk) Ernest. He was baptized on Jan. 13, 1924, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 10, 1938, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grant Township.

He grew up and received his education in the Ida Grove area. He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1945 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Mildred Spiese on Nov. 9, 1947, at the First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek, Iowa.

He farmed for many years in Ida County. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he participated on various church boards and committees. He served as Ida County supervisor and as president of the Ida County Fair board. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, golfing, fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; three daughters, Zolene and her husband, Gregg Streck and Kathryn and her husband, Dale Edsen, all of Ida Grove and Barbara Pfaltzgraff of Waukee, Iowa; nine children, Kara and her husband, Jim Franzen, Joseph Streck and his wife, Lynette, Andrew Edsen and his wife, Jill, Daniel Edsen and his wife, Kim, Eric Edsen, Nicholas Edsen, Rianne Pfaltzgraff, Sarah and her husband, Chad Steeve and Alex Pfaltzgraff; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Justin and Alyssa Franzen, David Edsen and Madison Mason Pfaltzgraff; a brother and his wife, Leonard and Marilyn Ernest; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Rebekah Sarah Streck; a son-inlaw, Scott Pfaltzgraff; a sister, Helen Streck; and two brothers, Elmer and Wilbert Ernst. Robert L. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute. Walter Jahn was born Dec. 23, 1911, in Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Carl and Dora (Timm) Jahn.

He was baptized Jan. 21, 1912, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa, by the Rev. A. Amstien.

He later attended the Lutheran parochial school in Ute. He was confirmed April 5, 1925, by the Rev. C.A. Krog at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ute, where he remained a life long member.

On Feb. 10, 1941, he was united in marriage to Edna S. Mohr by the Rev. Hugo Neiting of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute.

The couple lived on a farm northwest of Ute until retiring to town in 1975. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Feb. 10, 2005. Those survivors left to cherish their memories of Walter include his wife, Edna; two sons and their wives, Evan and Janet Jahn of Richmond, and Dennis and Pam Jahn of Ute; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Robert Starckovich of Bloomington, seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Erma Sander of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Jenny Lou; two brothers, Herbert and Ervin; and two sisters, Lydia Jahn and Arlene Rude.

TayRynn L. Harlan MACY, Neb. TayRynn LaRae Harlan, newborn infant daughter of Terrell Harlan and Elizabeth Parker of Macy, died Sunday, May 8, 2005. at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha. Services will be noon Thursday at the Alfred Gilpin Building in Macy, with Mr.

TayRynn was born May 7, 2005, at 12:17 p.m. along with her twin sister, TayRell LaRae Harlan. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Parker of Macy; her father, Terrell Harlan of Macy; her twin sister, TayRell of Macy; grandparents, Ramona and Mark Walker of Omaha, Neal and Calene Sheridan Sr. and Roxanne Harlan, all of Macy; great-great-grandmother, Eva Bourelle of Omaha; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Evelyn and Frank Sheridan Garnett Parker, Edna Mae and Raymond Harlan Sr.

Daniel Paul Brechwald, the son of Raymond and Rosanna (Huot) Brechwald, was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Cherokee, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Sutherland, where he received his education, graduating from Sutherland High School in 1973. Following graduation, he attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, where he received a bachelor's degree in business. Following graduation, he moved back to Sutherland to live and work on the family farm.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and playing cards. Above all, he loved being around his friends and family. Left to cherish his memory are two sisters and their husbands, Beverly and Leo Jochum of Salix, Iowa, and Mary and Charles Beatty of Cortland, N.Y.; a brother, Ray Brechwald of Sutherland; seven nieces and nephews; seven great -nieces and great-nephews; other relatives; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David; and his grandparents.
