Elizabeth Spence Elizabeth A. Spence, 70, of Sioux City died Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. be cremated. Viola R.Worrell Viola R. Worrell, 92, of Water-town, a former Sioux City resident, died Tuesday at Watertown. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Christy, Smith Hockenberry Mor-ningside Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until service time at the funeral home.

(AP) Preliminary DNA tests link the infant son of comatose woman who was raped with a former employee convicted of fondling a patient at the same nursing home, authorities said Wednesday, i' New York Attorney General Dennis Vacco said that further tests would be conducted, but a preliminary exam indicated a genetic match between John Horace and the rape victim's child, born Monday. "We consider him, at this juncture, our prime suspect," Vacco said. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Keith LMeloy Keith Luther Meloy, 73, a former Sioux City resident, died Tuesday at his home in Carlsbad, Calif.

The body was cremated in San Diego, Calif. Terry of Omaha; a stepson, Jerry Coffin of South Sioux City; his parents of Buena Park, two sisters, Rose Narvesen of Nampa, Idaho, and Nina Hamblin of Buena Park, and a grandson, Deven. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill. Eloise Watkins Cale Memorial services for Eloise Watkins Cale, 82, of Phoenix, a former longtime Sioux City resident, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sioux City.

Mrs. Cale died Dec. 25, 1995, in Camarillo, Calif. Vernon Tiberghien Vernon Tiberghien, 60, of Naran-ja, a former Sioux City resident, died Tuesday at his home. The body will be cremated in Naranja.

Mildred Frame Mildred Irene Pearl "Milly" Frame, 86, of Sioux City died Tuesday at Casa De Paz Nursing Home after a brief illness. Morris D. Belden SOUTH SIOUX CITY Morris D. Belden, 62, of South Sioux City died Tuesday, March 19, 1996, shortly after arrival at a Sioux City hospital. He was stricken at work.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Tomlinson, pastor of St Paul United Methodist Church officiating. There will be a flag presentation at the funeral home. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Belden was born Feb. 3, 1934, in Sterling, the son of Samuel and Florence Belden. He graduated from high school and attended college in California. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

A longtime resident of South Sioux City, he was formerly employed at Covington Golf Course, involved with construction of golf courses. He was presently employed as a heavy equipment operator for Campbell Grading in Jefferson, S.D. He married Beth A. Coffin Nov. 6, 1981, in Mr.

Belden was a past member of Cownie-Church Post 307, American Legion. Survivors include his wife; a son, memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts officiating. Visitation with the family will begin 6 p.m.

Hannah Sveeggen BERESFORD, S.D. Hannah Sveeggen, 93, of Beresford died Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at the Sioux Valley Hospice in Sioux Falls after a short illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at tinsburg with Pastor Gary Klatt officiating. Burial will be in Silver Ridge Cemetery, rural Martinsburg. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m., and a prayer service at 8:15 p.m., at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.

Mr. Harder was born Aug. 5, 1905, in rural Martinsburg, the son of Wilhelm and Maria (Reinhardt) Harder. He started farming at an early age. On July "1, 1931, he married Leona Fowler.

The couple farmed until their retirement in 1963, when they moved to Ponca. She died Aug. 9, 1982. He enjoyed carpentry and gardening. He entered the Elms Health Care Center three years ago.

Mr. Harder was a member of Trinity. Lutheran Church. Survivors include a son, Darrold and his wife, Kay of Ponca; a brother, William Harder of Ponca; five grandchildren, Pam Diediker, Randy Harder, Patsy Tasseff, Rusty Harder and Jackie Wise; 13 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel; two brothers, Ed and Rudolph, and two sisters, Clara Kamrath and Minnie Engel.

Richard Johnson JEFFERSON, S.D. Richard L. Johnson, 70, of rural Jefferson died Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital following a one-year illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Satur the Roseni Lutheran Church in rural Beresford with the Rev.

Erika Lehmann officiating. Burial will be in the Roseni Cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. today, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at Creek.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove with the Rev. Gerald Fisch officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Dan-bury.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m., at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove. Mrs. Mohrhauser was born Nov. 13, 1908, in Ida County, the daughter of Henry and Augusta (Eggebrecht) Christensen.

She married Edward Mohrhauser May 23, 1934, in Dan-bury. He died Sept. 17, 1964. A lifelong resident of Cushing, Battle Creek and Danbury areas, she worked -at the Cushing Cafe and the Willow Dale Care Center for a number of years. She moved to the care center in 1987.

Mrs. Mohrhauser was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include a son and his wife, Gilbert and Rosemary Mohrhauser of Hartford, S.D.; two daughters, Norma Hustad and Elizabeth Prochelo, both of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Verdell; a daughter, Shirley White; three brothers; six sisters and a great-great-grandson. Muriel Needham SCHALLER, Iowa Muriel Needham, 87, of Schaller died Saturday, March 16, 1996, at her home following a long illness of cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday i Center in Dallas. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Lynn Potter officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars. Mrs. Pew was born May 10, 1895, on a farm in Perry Township, the daughter of Andrew and Magdalena (Roesch) Crouch.

Her father vas the last surviving Civil War veteran in Plymouth County until his death in 1945. She moved with her family to Le Mars at age 5. She graduated from Le Mars High School and attended Western Union (Westmar) College. She taught country school until her marriage to Harold Pew in 1916. The Pew family was in the car and implement business in Le Mars for decades and was active in community and church affairs.

Mr. Pew died in 1971. She was an avid golfer and had enjoyed walking several miles almost daily. Survivors include a two daughters, Geraldine Hodapp of Elmhurst, 111., and Patricia Cutler and her husband, Chuck of Richardson, Texas; a son, Bill Pew and his wife, Elaine of San Marcos, 11 grandchildren, James Hodapp, Kathy Pew, Jeanne Pew O'Brien, Rebecca Pew Myerly, Margaret Pew, Candy Cutler Biggs, Paula Pew Konrady, Tom Pew, Jeri Cutler, Rob Pew, and Liz Pew Rhoads; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Claudia Hauff, Mabel Van Dyke, Cora Douglass, and Frankie Lemon; a brother, Oscar Crouch; a son and daughter-in-law, Dick Pew and Margie Bolser Pew.

Mrs. De Boer was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Casper, the daughter of James Charles and Nattalee (Gaylord) Miller. She was raised at Yakima, where she graduated from high school. On Aug.

6, 1944, she married Clarence Alfred De Boer at Yakima. The couple made their home in Hull. He died June 9, 1994, if Rock Valley. On July 3, 1995, she became a resident of Valley Manor. Mrs.

De Boer was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she belonged to Reformed Church tyomens Ministries and Priscilla Circle. She also participated in a neighborhood coffee break Bible study. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary in -Hull, the Order of Eastern Star in Sheldon and the Rose Society in Sioux Falls, S.D. She had served as president of the Hull Federated Women's Club. include two sons and their wives, Jerry and Leona of Hull and David J.

and Linda of St. Paul, two daughters and their husbands, Nattalee A. and Ken Van Oort of Rock Valley and Barbara M. and Lynn Grotluschen of George; nine grandchildren; two stepgrand-children and a great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Travis Van Oort.

She graduated from high school in Marshall, in 1944. She graduated from Drake University in 1949 and was a music teacher in Cleghorn and Onawa for two years. On June 21, 1953, she married Alvin Wilier in Marshall. The couple made their home in Brunsville. Mrs.

Wilier was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and the ladies group of the church. 1 Survivors include her husband; four sons and their wives, Jay and Nancy of Akron, James and Debbie of Mizpah, N.J., John and Jayne of Merrill and Paul and Jodi of Mar-; shall; six grandchildren; David, Daniel, Courtney, Emily, Laura and Lisa; a brother, Clifford Taylor of Richfield, a sister-in-law, Beverly Taylor of Fallbrook, and nieces and nephews. "Red" Williams, 93, of Onawa died Monday, March 18, 1996, at his home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Onawa Cemetery. The Rev. Earle R.

Maidie R.Wirt LE MARS, Iowa Maidie Witt, 88, of Le Mars died Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St.

John's Lutheran Church ELCA in Le Mars with the Rev. Gary Land-sness officiating. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery at Akron. Visitation will be after 2 p.m.

today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars. Mrs. Witt was born Dec. 16, 1907, on the family farm near Akron, the daughter of Folkert and Meta (Peters) Schmidt She was raised near Akron and attended country school. She married Alfred Witt Sept.

7, 1927, at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage. The couple farmed in the Akron area until his death Feb. 24, 1940. She and her daughters moved to Le Mars in 1942. She worked for Sheehan Produce for 17 years and later in the Westmar Commons Cafeteria for 14 years.

She retired in 1980. She had been a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Center since June 1985. Mrs. Witt was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and John Luschen of Le Mars and Marlys and Albert Tiesler of Hinton; four grandchildren, Kenneth and Scott Tiesler, Keith Luschen and Renae at the Presbyterian Church in Ponca with the Rev. Richard Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in the Ponca Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. today, with the family present 3 to 5 JVl the Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.

Mrs. Sveeggen was born Feb. 14, 1903, in rural Corsica, Douglas County, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Anne (Solem) Isakson. She also attended rural school there. Later, she moved to rural Beresford where she was employed by the Bethesda Childrens Home.

She became employed by the Andrew P. Sveeggen family of rural Alcester, and on June 25, 1924, she married Sigvald Sveeggen at the Roseni Parsonage. They farmed in rural Alcester, near Nora for 51 years. They retired and moved into Beresford in August 1975. Mr.

Sveeggen died June 15, 1978. She was baptized and confirmed at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural New Holland. She was was a member of the Roseni Lutheran Church and WELCA. She enjoyed singing hymns and songs together with members of her family. For many years, she did custom baking of cakes for anniversaries, birthdays and weddings.

She took pride in her flowers, especially roses. Survivors include a daughter, Leona Johnson of Beresford; two sons, Arnold, and his wife Twila of rural Beresford and Leroy and his wife Nancy of rural Alcester; five sisters, Marie Munkvold of Yankton, Annie Sveeggen of Beresford, Mabel Ronning of Alcester, Mrs. Alton (Clara) Larson of Vermillion, Mrs. Maynard (Alma) Ronning of Lansing, seven brothers, Oscar of Colton, Conrad and Enoch of Corsica, John of Beresford, Alvin of Duncombe, Iowa, Harold of Stickney, and Joe of Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Isak and Alfred, and a sister, Lillian Hauert and a great-granddaughter.

Christian Van Soelen SIOUX CENTER, Iowa Christian Van Soelen, infant son of Greg and Kathy Van Soelen of Sioux Center, died shorty after birth Tuesday at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. There will be no visitation. A private family burial service will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery prior to the service.

Johnson was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Meckling, the son of Arthur and Minnie (Oviet) Johnson. He moved to rural Westf jeld, Iowa, as a child where he attended Happy Hollow Grade School and graduated from Westfield High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Regina May Rosenbaum Feb. 11, 1950, at Luverne, Minn. The couple made their home in rural Jefferson. She died May 10, 1992. He was employed by Swift Co.

until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Johnson was a Lutheran. He was a life member of Post 915 VFW at Elk Point, and served as commander from 1975 until 1977. He was captain of All State Commanders of VFW.

He served as president and secretary of United Packing Workers of America for many years and served as secretary of Retired United Packing Workers of America. Survivors include two sons, Arthur Richard and Todd Andrew, both of Jefferson; two daughters, Toni Lee Johnson of Sioux City and Tami Lyn Johnson of Youngstown, Ohio; a brother and his wife, Donald and Sandra Johnson of Jefferson; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Thomas Hummel, Charles Reich, Lavern Hanson, Delmar Abraham, Harold Jones, Robert Trudeau and Pat Oothoudt. Funeral Home in Moville. Mrs.

Needham was born Sept. 11, 1908, in Climbing Hill, the daughter of Edward and May (Clark) Mc-Claran. She was raised on a farm in Woodbury County and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1925. She then taught in rural one-room schools for 5Vi years. She graduated from Iowa State College in June 1935.

She married Donald P. Needham June 14, 1935, at Fremont, Neb. The couple lived at Chicago, Minneapolis and Winston-Salem, N.C. He retired in 1975 and they moved to Alpine, Texas. Mr.

Needham died Sept. 13, 1989, in Alpine, and she moved to Schaller to be near her sisters. Mrs. Needham was active in Mount Tabor Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. She was active in the Republican Party and Garden Club in Winston-Salem.

She was active in the Sunshine House and Meals On Wheels in Alpine. Survivors include a son, Lt. Col. (retired) Donald Needham of Raleigh, N.C; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Brown of River Pines, and Mrs.

Judy Hess of Bozeman, Mont; eight grandchildren, Bonney and Jenny Lynch, Angelina Ramsay, Maren Hess, Crissy Hess-Baker, Lisa Holle and Jennifer and Tiffany Needham; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beulan Warriner of Schaller and Nell Riser of Moville. Gertrude Noirot HARTINGTON, Neb. Gertrude Noirot, 94, of Omaha, a former resident of Hartington and Sioux City, died Tuesday at Mercy Care Center in Omaha. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Turkey Valley Baptist Cemetery in Irene, S.D.

Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, with a frayer service at 7 p.m., at the Wintz uneral Home in Hartington. Esther M. Pew p.m., at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Visitation will resume at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Schwiesow was born Nov. 16, 1915, on a farm near Akron, Iowa, the son of Carl and Anna (Specht) Schwiesow. He attended school through eighth grade in Chatsworth, Iowa. He worked for Western Construction Co.

until joining the U.S. Navy and serving in the Seabees during World War II. He 'married Mildred Miles June 18, 1941, in South Sioux City. They moved to Ponca in 1946 where he and his brother, Carl started Schwiesow Brothers automotive dealership and repair, which was in operation for 18 years. In 1964, he was hired as an automotive mechanics instructor by Manpower which was incorporated into Western Iowa Tech Community College.

While there, he was instructor and department chair and served as president of NATII. He retired in 1980. Mr. Schwiesow served as Past Commander of Chappelle Post 117, American Legion and past County Commander. He was a member of the Ponca Commercial Club, the Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, hunting and was an avid card player. Survivors include his wife; five sons and their wives, Bob and Kay of Bellevue, Steve and Debbie of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Doug and Bonnie of Homer, Alaska, Rick and Cheri of Loveland, and Landy and Stacey of Council Bluffs; three daughters, LaRae and Bob Smith of Ponca, Myrna and Gary Sullivan of Grand Island and Susan and Ross Udey of Peru, a brother, Bill of Omaha; two sisters, Mildred and her husband, Dave Banghart of Burbank, Florence DeGroot LUVERNE, Minn. Florence DeGroot, 74, of Luverne died Wednesday, March 20, 1996, at Cambridge, Minn. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian CHurch in Luverne with burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.

Visitation will be Friday evening at Holmes Funeral Home in Luverne. Mrs. DeGroot was born Aug. 11, 1921, at Adrian, the daughter of Henry and Hattie Smeins. She married George DeGroot March 4, 1940.

They resided in Luverne most of their married life. Mr. DeGroot died Feb. 15, 1993. Survivors include three sons, George Jr.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. George H. Fiihr SHELDON, Iowa George H. Fiihr, 86, of Sheldon died Tuesday at Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Sheldon with burial in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present at 7:30 p.m., at the Sheldon Funeral Service.

Alma Mohrhauser BATTLE CREEK, Iowa Alma F. Mohrhauser, 87, of Battle Creek died Monday, March 18, 1996, at Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Buss; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Millie Rehborg of Fort Collins, and a sister-in-law, LeOra Schmidt of Apple Valley, Calif.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Annie and Freda Klemme and Tillie Kluver and three brothers, John, Fred and Mervin Schmidt LE MARS, Iowa Esther M. Pew, 100, of Dallas, Texas, a former resident of Le Mars, died Monday, March 18, 1996, at Treemont Care.
