Bonnie Jean (Kai) Simonsen, 76, of Pender died on Friday, Aug. away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Regency Square Care Center after a brief illness. Services Aug. 8, 2009, at Westwood Care Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Rehab Center in Odebolt from complications due to Alzheimer's disease. Services will be 10:30 Sioux City, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at his residence. Private family me 7, 2009, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morial services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Yankton. Following the watching westerns, but at age 50, he started playing golf, and over the years, managed to make nine holes-in-one.

Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Judy and her husband, David Twining of Blue Grass, Iowa; his brother, Elmer Atwood of Sherman, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Edwards of Sioux City, and Ruth and her husband, Walt Grossenbacher of Lake Wales, his sister-in-law, Catherine of Sioux City; his extended family, Sherry and her husband, Marlin Bender of Dakota Dunes, the grandchildren, Jess and Katie Bender, Kate and her husband, Mike Troevell; and two great-grandsons, Gabe and Merick Troevell. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Dennis in 1947; his brothers, Jack and Robert; and his sister, Helen Lias. For those wishing to leave condolences, please visit munderlohfuneral home.com. Bonnie Jean (Kai) Simonsen was born on Oct. 8, 1932, in Pender, the daughter of John and Edith Kai. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church and later confirmed at St.

Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. Bonnie attended Country School District 31 and Pender High School. She was united in marriage on March 6, 1949, to Gordon Simonsen at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Together they lived and farmed south of Pender for 46 years and raised their three children, Bruce, Diane and Terry.

Bonnie moved into her home in Pender in 1997. Methodist Church, with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m.

10, 1913, in Sioux City, to Herman and Mary Brouwer. Viola attended Central High School. She was married to Harold Bornholtz on Nov. 17, 1930, in Denison, Iowa. He preceded her in death in January of 1984.

Viola worked as a waitress serving at Martin's Tea Room, Younkers Red Rooster and the Milwaukee Weiner Shop. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Azure Chapter 540. Viola's first love was working and being with people. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, flowers, loving her family, baking cookies, walking and being active in the Eastern Star. She is survived by her four children, a daughter, De-Lores (Jack) Blades of Cherokee, Iowa; a son, Carmen (Janice) Bornholtz of Sioux City; a daughter, Marlene (Curt) Vanderloo of Merrill, Iowa, and a son, Von (Vicki) Bornholtz of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great -great -grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three grandchildren, Lonnie Bornholtz, Scott Blades and Starla Cason; a brother, Harold Brouwer; and four sisters, Hermina Horton, Gladys Sieh, Christina Taute and Helen McNaughton. Born Nov. 24, 1918, on a farm near Schleswig, Iowa, Mabel Pearl Wunschel was the second of four children born to Fred and Selma (Er-icksen) Christiansen. She grew up on several different farms between Ida Grove and Schleswig, where she attended country schools. Her education ended at the end of her eighth grade year after which she worked for the Adams family near Odebolt.

On March 2, 1938, Mabel married Harold R. Wunschel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. The union was blessed with one son, Larry Allen Wunschel. Mabel farmed alongside Harold on their farm north of Arthur, Iowa, for 40 years.

During this time, Mabel cooked for the Odebolt school and also did volunteer work at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. Mabel was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. She was a member of the church circle and was active in church Bible study. Mabel also was a member of the Friendly Neighbor's Club.

She enjoyed people and volunteering her time. Survivors include her husband, Harold; a son and his wife, Larry and Carol Wunschel of Valentine, a sister, Loween Lansink of Odebolt; two great-grandchildren, Tygh and Dustin Frank; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Vernon Christiansen; a sister, Viola Namanny; and her only two grandchildren, Jackie Wunschel, age 16, and Carrie Wunschel Frank, age 26. Memorials in Mabel's name may be directed to the church. will be 10:30 a.m.

Loraine was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Laurel, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Marthwig) Rohde. She attended Sunny Stop Country School near Laurel and Ponca High School.

On Feb. 12, 1942, she married Raymond J. Reifenrath in Hart-ington, Neb. The couple first lived in Hartington, and then farmed for a short time near Jackson, until they bought a house in Jackson. Raymond died in October of 1976 near Ponca, Neb.

Loraine moved to South Sioux City in 1977. She worked in housekeeping for Howard Johnson Hotel from 1977 until she retired in 1989. She also cleaned the St. Patrick's Church in Jackson. She baby-sat for several families as well as her own grandkids.

Loraine loved country music, Husker football, baseball and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, attending concerts, plays and events with her friends yard work and snow sledding. Loraine was involved in all of the activities for the residents at Regency. She was a member of St. Michael's Church.

She is survived by five children, Teresa and her husband, Jerry Asmussen of Moville, Iowa, Frank and his wife, Debbie of Guernsey, Vincent and his wife, Janie of Persia, Iowa, Margaret and her husband, Roy King of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Michele and her husband, Mike Loos of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two daughters-in-law, Bobbie of Laurel, and Sherrie of Dakota Dunes; two brothers, Pierce Rohde of Hartington, and John Rohde and his wife, Joan of Mason City, three sisters, Doris Christensen of Lincoln, Velma Leonard of Altoona, Pa. and LaRoyce Kollbaum and her husband, Ed of Omaha, 22 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Fred and services, a celebration open house is being held in Bob's honor, beginning at 2 p.m., at 112 Scenic Drive, Yankton. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Larkin Chapel on Outer Drive in Sioux City.

He graduated from East High School in Sioux City in 1956, and was a graduate of the University of South Dakota. While attending the University of South Dakota, he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, the Strollers and the ROTC program. After graduating from the University of South Dakota, Bob served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves for eight years.

Upon completion of his service to his country, Bob worked for Container Corporation in Sioux City for several years before he founded and operated R.C. Chapman Associates. Bob was a founding member of Sioux City River-Cade and a member of the Admirals Club. He served as Commodore in 1976, and then served as the River-Cade's liaison with the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team for 25 years.

He was presented and became an honorary member of the Golden Knights in 1979, the 19th such person to be awarded this prestigious honor. Bob married Karen Nelson on June 10, 1961, and had two daughters, Karli and Wendy. He married Laura Garvin on March 18, 1989. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Laura (Galvin) Chapman of Yankton; daughters, Karli (David) Wandling of Chanhassen, and Wendy (Ronald II Stebbins of Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren, Paige, Ryan and Christopher Wandling; and brothers, Larry Chapman of Dakota Dunes, and Mark Chapman of Steamboat Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette and Charles.

His family requests that memorials be directed to Avera Sacred Heart Hospice, 1000 West Fourth side Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. John Pehrson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m.

She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School in 1934. She worked in the She was very active in her church serving on the church council and numerous committees.

She was also a member of the Pender Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to play cards and belonged to card clubs and the cc club in Pender. She loved going on trips with the Heritage Club and enjoyed a trip to the casino now and then. Her family was very important to her and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a favorite pastime. She was well known for her cooking and everyone was always welcome at her table.

Bonnie is survived by her three children, Bruce and wife, Roxanne Simonsen of Lyons, Diane andhus-band, Larry VanKirk of Bancroft, and Terry and wife Cathy Simonsen of Pender; seven grandsons and their wives, Scott and Beth Simonsen, Gregg and Lisa Simonsen, Kyle and Abby Simonsen, Brock and Jacque Simonsen, Bryan and Anne VanKirk, Eric and Ann Simonsen and Clint and Carla Simonsen; a granddaughter and her husband, Mandy and Chris Ellis; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Dale Kai and Bill Area packing-house industry for Cudahy Packing Company prior to her marriage. She married Charles Wilton on Oct. 4, 1941, in Dakota City. When her children were in school, Dolly worked at Bellas Hess Store in the men's clothing department.

After her children were grown, she worked in the school lunch program at East Middle School for several years. She was currently residing at Countryside Nursing Home. Dolly enjoyed traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Holidays were memorable at their home and full of laughter.

She is survived by her sister, Gertrude Paul; four sons and their wives, Ronald and Sarah Barnes of Hacienda Heights, John and Caryl Wilton of Omaha, Philip and Sue Wilton of Bixby, Okla. and Paul and Janine Wilton of Sioux City; sisters-in-law, Mabel Den Hartog of Missouri, Helen Cory of Sioux City, Ruth and Armand Menard of Sioux City, Sally Wilton of Arizona, and Jessie Bell of Washington; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Don and Marlene Zacek of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, on May 8, 1989; her son, Charles on June 20, 1961; her grandson, Jonathan, on April 3, 2005; brothers, Herman and the Rev. Dr. George and his wife, Clara Ann Den Hartog; sisters, Mildred Bochart and her husband, the Rev.

Health system merger could expand services FARGO, N.D. (AP) Executives planning a merger of the two largest health systems in the Dakotas say it could mean expanded medical services. Fargo's MeritCare and Sanford Health of Sioux Falls, S.D., hope to compete the merger by the end of the year. The combined network would serve about 2 million people in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa. MeritCare already has land south of Interstate 94, on Fargo's western edge, that has been in reserve for development.

Emergency room services and the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo are among its facilities needing more space. Executives are talking about starting work in five years on a new facility, at an estimated cost of around $300 million. William WAtwood SIOUX CITY William "Bill" Atwood, 87, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at a local care facility. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. Bill was born on May 9, 1922, in Sioux City, the son of Charles and Esther (Ayers) Atwood. He graduated in 1941 from Central High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and during World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater.

After returning to Sioux City, on Nov. 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Margaret Beman. Bill had worked at Cudahy's Packing before enlisting and upon returning, he worked there until it closed in 1955. Bill then worked for IPS (later known as MidAmerican) for 28 years, until his retirement in 1984. Bill enjoyed fishing and Shirley LKistner SIOUX CITY-Shirley E.

Kistner, 83, of Sioux City died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sergeant Bluff following a brief illness. Services will be p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.
