G. Newman, 3129 Douglas announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Ann, to Rodney Dean Nicolaisen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nicolaisen of Washta, Iowa. Miss Newman is a graduate of Central High School and attends Morningside College where she is a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

Mr. Nicolaisen, a graduate of Willow High School at Washta, also is a student at Morningside College. No wedding date has been set. Margaret Ellen Sliimerda, Stephen Youngberg to Wed Mr. and Mrs.

Robert Shimerda, 2600 S. Newton announce the engagement of their daughter, Margaret Ellen, to Stephen Paul Youngberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Youngberg, 2627 S. Mulberry St.

No definite date has been chosen for the wedding. Both Miss Shimerda and her fiance were graduated from East High School. She is majoring in drama at Morningside college and formerly attended Butler University in Indianapolis, where she was affiliated with Pi Beta Phi social sorority. Mr. Youngberg is a pre-medical student at Morningside and belongs to Tau Kappa Epsilon social fraternity.

Brule Creek Lutheran Church was the setting for the wedding, Tuesday evening, when Miss Judy Kay Heckathorn became the bride of LeRoy Lauren Knut-son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lauren Knutson of Centerville, S.D. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Sherman Hecka thorn of Burbank, S.D. Pastor Kermit J. Rye offici ated. White flowers decorated the church. Donna Dutcher and Willard Knutson, the vocalists, were accompanied by Jacquelyn Heckathorn, organist.

The bride's attendants were Miss Frances Svoboda, Miss La-Vonna Mammenga, Miss Mar-lyn Dutcher and Miss Anita Raye Herbert. They wore floor-length gowns of royal blue velvet, with slim bodices, and sheath skirts with back streamers. Open circlets of velvet held illusion veils, and they carried white chrysanthemums. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a gown of delustered satin, with sheath skirt, with alencon lace at the neckline and banding the skirt. A detachable court train fell lrom the shoulderline.
