William H. Mosby, Native Sioux Cityan, Dies in Evanston EVANSTON, III. Funeral service will be Tuesday in Wilmette, 111., for William H. Mosby, Iowa born commercial artist and art instructor who died in a hospital here Sunday after a short illness. He was 66.

Mosby, a native of Sioux City, taught at the American Academy of Art in Chicago for 35 years. He won an international competition in 1938 for an eight-year scholarship to the National Superior Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Alice Mosby; a son, William H. Mosby and a sister, Mrs.

McLaughlin, Lyle Willoughby, Vera Sailor and Roy Cale. ELMER MAX JACOBS Elmer Max Jacobs, 65, Grants-burg, a former Sioux City resident, died Saturday at Grantsburg. Mr. Jacobs was born Sept. 13, 1899, in rural Sioux City.

He married Nellie Mae Wehrstein. He lived at Grantsburg for the past 25 years. Survivors include the widow. The body will be sent to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.

Ex-Officer Dies at 51 William Shumansky, 51, 2006 S. Clinton a lifelong resident of Sioux City and member of the police force for 19 years, died Sunday at a hospital after a year and a half's illness. Mr. Shumansky was born Aug. 30, 1913 and had lived in Sioux City all his life.

He retired from the police department in September, 1963. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. 'Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Fannie Shumansky; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon Kay Wiese; two brothers, Alex and Jack; a sister, Mrs.

Zena Morgan, and a grandchild, all of Sioux City. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church. The Rev.

Paul Hicha will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Pe-rasso Bros. Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion. Pallbearers, all members of the Sioux City police force, will be Bayne Linden, Ray Stewart, Dale Blom, Paul Von Hagel, Sterling Armstrong and Clarence Hansen.

Pre-memorial services will be held at 7:30 o'clock tonight at the funeral home. JESSE M. M'ELHANEY Jesse Marlon McElhaney, 85. a Sioux City resident since 1946, died Sunday at a nursing home here. Mr.

McElhaney was born Jan 19, 1879, near Akron, Iowa. His father was the first sheriff of Plymouth County. He attended Dixon College at Dixon, and the Chicago Art Institute. He taught art at the Sandusky, Ohio, public schools for many years, and later sold business supplies. Mr.

McElhaney married Bertha C. Aupperle in 1903 at LeMars. She died in 1925. He was a member of Unity Truth Center here. Survivors include a son Ralph of Irving, five daughters, Mrs.

Lois Johnson of Ellendale, Mrs. Marian Koch of Elmhurst, 111., Mrs. Marjorie Zimmerman and Mrs. Eleanor Stoots, both of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Mrs. Frances Gunder- man of Oregon.

Ohio; 14 grand children and eight great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home. WILLIAM P. WALSH Funeral services for William Percy Walsh, 75, 1507 Main St. who died Sunday afternoon at a Sioux Citv hospital after one-month illness, will be held at 9 a.m.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr, Walsh was born Jan. 25, 1889 at Yankton, S. and had been a resident of Sioux City for 60 years.

Henry Smith, both of Shelby, 12 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. MISS META L. DIRKS AKRON, Iowa Special: Funeral services for Miss Meta Louisa Dirks, 57, longtime West-field Township resident who died Saturday at her home in Akron after a brief illness, will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Lewison Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

The Rev. David J. Roy will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Miss Dirks was born May 2, 1907, in Westfield Township, and had recently moved to Akron.

Survivors include one brother, Carl of South Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Molly Mamman of LeMars, Iowa, and Mrs. Tracy Oltman of Omaha, and a half- brother, Martin of Florence, D. ROLAND L. DICKEY ONAWA, Iowa Special: Roland L.

Dickey, 82, a retired rancher from Crandall, Manitoba, Canada, who was taken ill and admitted to a hospital here 10 days ago while en route from Florida, died here Sunday. Mr. Dickey was born April 14, 1882, in Ontario, Canada. He married Carolyn Keith on June 23, 1955, at Sommerville, Mass. Survivors include the widow and a brother, Claude Dickey of Crandall.

Rothman, 80, 3021 Washington died Sunday evening at a Sioux City nursing home after a long illness. Mrs. Rothman was born Sept. 3, 1884, in Franklin, and she moved to O'Neill, where she lived for 10 years. She was married to Henry Rothman in February, 1903, in Nebraska City.

They were residents of Sioux City the last 40 years. She was a member of the Rustin Avenue Methodist Church and she was a former member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge. Survivors are the widower; two daughters, Mrs. Mae Wegh-er and Mrs. Gladys Barnes, both of Sioux City; three sons, Lloyd of Lawton and Louis of San Gabriel, Calif, and Owen of Colorado Springs, two sisters, Mrs.

Dora Johnson of Kingsley and Mrs. Emma Bad-burg of a 1 a 20 grandchildren, and 56 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. ANDREW P.

HOFLUND Andrew P. Hoflund, 79, 905 S. Alice died Monday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 23, 1885, in Norway and came to this country and to Sioux City in 1905.

A cabinet maker by trade, he was employed by the Curtis Sash and Door Co. before his retirement in 1950. He married Mabel Munkvold Sept. 15, 1909, in Sioux City. He was a mem ber of St.

Luke Lutheran Church. Survivors are the widow; three sons, Alfred of Denver; Norman of Springfield, and Arnold of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Larsen of St. Jo seph, four sisters, Mrs. Anna Eastvold of Velva, N.D.; Mrs.

Caroline Gunderson of Beresford, S.D.; Mrs. Olga Fylling of Sioux City, and Mrs. Inga Halverson, living in Nor way; a brother, Carl in Norway, and six grandchildren. The body was taken to the Nelson-Berger North Side Fu neral Home. MRS.

AGNES PERRY Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes Perry, 67, 216 Main who died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Rutledge Funeral Home with the Rev. H. L.

Turner, pastor at the Morningstar Bap tist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland cemetery at St. Joseph, Mo. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Perry was born Feb. 1, 1897 at St. Joseph, and came to Sioux City in 1961. Survivors include two sons, Leonard of Milwaukee, and Alfred C.

of Denver, two daughters, Mrs. Norma Harris and Mrs, Wanda Brown, both of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Fate of St. Joseph and Mrs. Blanche Nassie of Kansas City, 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
